Therametric Technologies,
Inc. was established in 1996 by two faculty members (Drs. Mostafa Analoui and
Mark Saxen) at the Indiana University School of Dentistry and was acquired by
Dr. George K. Stookey in July 2002. It was housed in leased space located within
the Indiana University Emerging Technologies Center on the Indiana University –
Purdue University at Indianapolis campus through March 2010.
Since April
2010, the company is housed in its own new 26,000 square foot facility located
near Noblesville, Indiana. Facilities include dental research laboratories; a
dental clinic; product manufacturing, testing, packaging, and shipping areas;
staff offices; and various support facilities.
Available research
instrumentation includes a variety of instruments designed for dental caries
detection and the conduct of controlled clinical trials. Available analytical
instruments include
a Perkin
Elmer atomic absorption spectrometer, a Packard 2900TR tri carb liquid
scintillation analyzer, two Leco LM247AT microhardness testers, enamel polishing
instruments, Mettler analytical balances, an IEC Multi centrifuge, an Accumet
AR10 ph meter, conventional and ultrasonic water baths, vacuum pumps, a vacuum
oven, Ohaus top loading balances, a Thomas Scientific metallurgical microscope,
an incubator, drying ovens, magnetic stirrers, mechanical stirrers, a Klett
colorimeter, a variety of Pipetman instruments, and conventional types of
laboratory glassware and plasticware.
TTI is staffed by a combination of full-time and part-time employees with expertise in dentistry and dental research as well as administrative support.
