In 2005, a new division of Therametric Technologies, Inc. (TTI) was initiated to assist dental manufacturers in product development and testing. Under the direction of Bruce Schemehorn, the primary mission of Dental Product Testing (DPT) is to offer an alternative facility for dental manufacturers to out-source their research and testing needs. With over 30 years experience in the dental product testing field, he is well qualified to help design and oversee testing to meet your needs.
Laboratory Testing
The laboratories are well-equipped with the instrumentation necessary for conducting these tests. These instruments include a Perkins Elmer atomic absorption spectrophotometer, Packard 2900TR tri carb liquid scintillation analyzer, Leco LM247AT micro hardness tester, Thomas metallurgical microscope as well as various analytical balances, centrifuges, water bathes, incubators, stirrers, and other conventional items.
DPT is capable of performing all tests required by the FDA and ADA for fluoride dentifrice approval. These tests include:
* Enamel Fluoride Uptake (EFU)
* Enamel Solubility Reduction (ESR)
* Radioactive Dentin Abrasion (RDA)
* Radioactive Enamel Abrasion (REA)
* Fluoride Stability Tests
* In Vitro Whitening Tests
* In Situ Remin-Demin Tests
* Laboratory Remineralization Tests
* Standard pH Cycling Tests**
**We are now offering a validated model capable of replicating the results traditionally observed in the rat caries test. The model has been validated and is capable of demonstrating graduated levels of efficacy. Responses with this model have also been replicated in several laboratories further documenting the validity of the model. The model is used in several laboratories to augment routine caries monograph testing.
